I’m Giving A TEDx Talk!
I'm excited to announce that I've been invited to give a TEDx talk! I'll be speaking about "When You Can't Help Everyone", a topic I've struggled with for years. As many of you know, my dad is a pastor, and raised me to be a "helper" — to serve and put others first,...
Podfest 2019
Hey friends! I'm excited to announce that I will be speaking at Podfest 2019 in Orlando from March 7-9, 2019! Though I podcast in both the nonfiction (Write Now) and fictional (Girl In Space) realms, I'll be mainly serving as an audio drama ambassador. 🙂 So... what...
I Was Involved In An Altercation Today.
I had a very weird, intense thing happen today. So I was working on course marketing at a Starbucks by my house when this drunk older gentleman wandered in and began yelling. He announced he was a Marine vet and that he didn't want to order at the back of the line,...

Quick Beginning-of-2019 Update
Hey friends. Sarah here. I've had a lot of people asking me lately, so I want to officially say: No! The Write Now podcast is not dead! It simply got... a little neglected this year as my life went through some radical changes. Some (most?) of you know that I have a...
Choosing Just One Word
I’m doing that One Word exercise that everyone goes crazy about this time of year (i.e., the pre-New Year’s holidays). The concept is that you choose one word to focus on as a mantra, catalyst, intention, and simplifier.
Writer’s Block Does/Does Not Exist
I was just talking to a writer friend about how I’m having so much difficulty writing the finale of Girl In Space. She made a comment along the lines of, “Wow, writer’s block really sucks,” which hit me like a ton of bricks.
The Writing “Should”s
Here’s the deal. Sometimes you sit down and what you write is really good. Sometimes you sit down and what you write is really bad. Sometimes you get discouraged and sit down and stare glumly juuuuust to the right of your computer monitor, because you can’t bear the thought of writing.
Catalysts
Hey friends. I’m in a weird place. I’m getting calls from agents. I’m meeting “must-know” people. I’m being invited to speak. It’s really flattering, and my ego is purring like a kitten in a sunbeam.
Aging Gracefully
I’ve been talking for several years about embracing the concept of AGING GRACEFULLY. It’s something I defined and committed to a long time ago — not dying my (now gray) hair, not bemoaning wrinkles, not desperately clinging to youth, but accepting the aging process as natural and — dare I say — good.
How To Start Writing: Mark By Mark
Writing can feel so overwhelming sometimes… where do you even start?
Net Neutrality, Power, and Leadership
Really, REALLY disappointed in the FCC’s decision to kill Net Neutrality. Here’s why, and here’s what we can do.
New Site!
It was time to rebuild my site, for a number of reasons. I hope you like it!
I Am Terrified
When I sat down this morning to start writing, I found myself absolutely terrified. Here’s why.

Thanksgiving
When I started the Write Now podcast back in January 2015, I had no idea where it was going to go.
Sarah’s Blog: Happy 1st Launchday Anniversary!
Wow. It's been just one year since I launched the Write Now podcast. I launched with four episodes in iTunes, which I recorded into a borrowed Blue Snowball mic and a $27 piece of audio foam this really nice dude at Guitar Center ripped off of...
Sarah’s Blog: Social Media Hiatus
I’m thinking about taking a social media hiatus in February 2016. Here’s what that means for the Write Now podcast — and you!
Sarah’s Blog: I’m Still Thinking About Imposter Syndrome.
Sometimes we feel worthless and unlovable — and we have no idea how to change how we feel.
Sarah’s Blog: 2015 In Books
2015 was going to be the year that I read a book a week. (NOTICE THAT I SAID "WAS".) 🙂 When I set the goal of 52 books in January 2015, I had not yet launched the Write Now podcast (that launched in February) and I had no idea what the year would bring, from my dad's...
Sarah’s Blog: Personal Stuff Time.
How do you know when to stop pushing yourself? (a.k.a. My lifelong struggle.)
Sarah’s Blog: I Want Your Opinion!
Thanks for stopping by to take this (hopefully quick) survey! Please be brutally honest as you answer these questions -- my goal is to make the Write Now podcast better in 2016. 🙂 Or else! LOL! Thanks again. I'm looking forward to creating...

Sarah’s Blog: Glad To Be Back.
Hey there, friends. I returned from my mission trip to Jamaica a couple days ago, and wow, was it amazing. And heartbreaking. And right back around to amazing again. I held hands and spoke and danced with the elderly and sick at an infirmary. I...
Sarah’s Blog: The Season of No
I’m kicking off what I’m calling my Season of No, in which I stop saying yes to every single little thing that people ask me to do.
Sarah’s Blog: You Shall Know The Truth.
And maybe set you free. There's a long and storied history of the links between truth & beauty, creativity & madness, and art & catharsis. I've said before that I believe that writers are the penultimate truth-tellers. But telling the truth means that we...
Sarah’s Blog: Write your own story.
Write your own story. I think that a lot of writers start out this way: We read and read and read... and ultimately get frustrated that we're limited to the role of participant. That we can't make the characters behave in the way we want them...
Sarah’s Blog: Worth it.
Worth it. I had an idea in April 2013 for a podcast. It would help writers who struggled with busy lives to follow their dreams and make the time to write. In April 2013, I didn't have the time to create a podcast, let alone the knowledge I'd...
Sarah’s Blog: Introducing Coffee Break.
Announcing Coffee Break, a sister podcast to the Write Now podcast! Sometimes you need a coffee break, to clear your head, breathe, and find inspiration. I'm hoping that Coffee Break will help provide that for you. (Though you'll have to provide your own coffee.) Join...
